Recently a friend named Guy, who is a member of our newsletter network at evolve, emailed me to ask for some perspective on his current life situation:

Guy wrote, “I was just curious about choosing to no longer experience something (and choosing to experience something new) as opposed to actually remembering that you have had and done it all before. Then I am confronted with just plain stop thinking about which is right or best, and be. In my case I’m broke and barely getting by – and choosing to be financially wealthy and philanthropic…”

I think many people are working with how to let go of a less than fulfilling life situation! Guy was influenced by a recent reading of the Conversations With God trilogy by Neale Donald Walsh. Our friend was generous enough to allow me to share his question and my response with all of you! Thank you Guy for sharing your path with us!

If you want to know my honest feeling on this, it is that you may be served right now by the non judgement line of approach. However, praise and gratitude are not what I would call judgement. So, when you say you are broke and barely getting by, I say that is not the way to see it. you must first realize that you are deeply supported in every moment by the unfailing love of the entire Kosmos. God is in you and with you every single time you breathe and if it was your time to stop breathing that is exactly what would happen.

There is no scraping by. . . That is a judgement. I know it is a tough thing to handle, but you can not be blessed in the ways that you want until you know deep within, that you are divinely loved, and that your very existence is a sublime miracle.

I breathe and the air is there to breathe again, Thank you God. The Laws of physics work and I can walk down the street without flying off into space and without my blood boiling. Thank you God. There is a system in place by which I am able to obtain food and water, Thank you God. . .

This really is the first step towards a full scale turn around.

The Hindu’s call it Bhakti, Christians call it Devotion. . .

It is a kind of Love and Appreciation for what is already given and generally taken for granted.  This is a step that is very easy to skip in the new-age paradigm. People like to delve deeply into zen one-ness (especially us men) because it is a concept that the mind can grasp and share. And let’s face it, as far as concepts go, it’s a really cool one to play with! But as long as it is a concept of truth and not your direct experience of truth, It is still just a thought. Duality must be fully explored before the actuality of one-ness can be a deep interior truth.

I find that we must first recognize the Absolute Majesty of the divine. We must bow down and admit that ‘little me’ is not God, not the All. Obviously I didn’t create the air that I am breathing! Obviously I didn’t create the earth that I am sitting on! Until I am actually aware of creating that, I am just talking about the ego when I say the word “I”. So that little “I” should be devoted to God, and be full of awe and wonder at the majesty of creation! The “Little Me” is absolutely NOT in charge of the universe. This is an important thing to realize in the practice of successful manifestation.

Know That you are Blessed by a force unlike anything you could ever conceive of. Search for the blessings! They are always there, in each and every moment, but we tend to look at them and say, “That’s not good enough.”

That’s fine too! It’s actually kind of our Job to come into this reality and find ways to make it better. We are working collectively through all the possible expressions of consciousness and digging deeply for the meaning and value of life. We have to go into dark places to find it sometimes. We have to sort through all the pain and sorrow as well as the joy to know what it is that makes life good.

We inform the divine with our collective experience of life, and in this way spirit evolves and grows ever grander and more luminous. In this way we individually work for the greater good just by being. I often thank and bless those who are suffering for taking on so much work! But sometimes you have to take a break! we have to stop doing our “Job” of finding problems with heaven for long enough to regain some composure and strength. We must rest!

There is inertia in energy and the realm of physical manifestation and in this day and age, most people are so disconnected for so long that just letting go of the wheel will likely cause some serious crashes, but maybe it is time to pull over at the next parking lot and take a nap. Maybe unemployment is a chance to go to a Vipassana retreat, or even join a monastery. Maybe it is time to get serious about knowing God and Knowing who you are and what you are here to do.  Whatever it is that your soul needs to recharge I can promise you that the first step is a moment by moment practice of gratitude. From that you will ease into the next rest area and recharge your soul quite easily.

May you be filled with Love and the overflowing blessings of the divine!

Michael!
