Bring your drums, percussion instruments, and flutes and join Don and Melinda Wells and the Evolve community for our drum circle on the second Friday of each month.
Drum circles are one part social event, one part music therapy, and they are great fun! Individuals come together to create a new cohesive whole, to create a sense of unity.
We are all surrounded by rhythm: our heartbeats, our breathing. Heartbeat rhythms are one of the first things we experience in the womb. Experience wordless communication as you feel and create a beat that evolves through the participation of each drummer.
Drum circles are credited with helping individuals feel better and reduce stress, reducing anxiety and depression, boosting confidence and self-esteem, and more!
No experience is necessary, no RSVP needed. This drum circle welcomes drums of all types, percussion instruments, hand pan, tongue drums, chimes, bells, and flutes. Just bring your instruments and show up! For those bringing softer-spoken instruments such as flutes, there will be special opportunities throughout the evening to share your instruments.
Evolve also has a comprehensive selection of instruments you can try out and purchase if you need a drum or instrument of your own. This event takes place in our downstairs classroom and workshop area, and there is a suggested donation of $5 to nurture the space. Please call Evolve at 815-444-9905 with any questions.
About your hosts: You may know Don and Melinda Wells as husband and wife co-owners of Evolve, but did you know that they have both been musicians for most of their lives? They’ve been making music together for over 30 years, and they are both certified in sound therapy. Before owning Evolve, Don worked in the music industry for 28 years. Between them, they play many instruments, but drumming has always held a special place in both their hearts. Beginning in March 2020, they are excited to continue the tradition and will now lead the drum circles that have been happening at Evolve for many years.
